On July 7, Beijing Off-Road officially announced that its all-new mid-to-large SUV would be named the "Titanium 700." The new vehicle is positioned as the brand's first luxury off-road SUV and is expected to adopt a body-on-frame structure.

In terms of exterior, the Titanium 700 continues Beijing Off-Road's family-style rugged design language, equipped with a large horizontal five-slot intake grille and rectangular LED headlight clusters. A lidar is integrated into the roof. The body features a black-and-gold two-tone paint finish and is equipped with 20-inch multi-spoke wheels. In terms of dimensions, the new vehicle measures 5040/1959/1926mm in length, width, and height respectively, with a wheelbase of 2820mm.

In terms of power, filing information shows that the Titanium 700 is equipped with a 1.5T range extender with a maximum power of 138kW, paired with a 41.7kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, providing a CLTC pure electric range of 145km.

The body-on-frame structure, combined with relatively high ground clearance, retains the foundation of a rugged off-roader. The rear retains the externally mounted spare tire design.

According to filing information, in March of this year, Beijing Off-Road had filed a model named the "Xiangye 700," equipped with an externally mounted spare tire and towing capability (total mass 2500kg), and it cannot be ruled out that it is the same vehicle as the Titanium 700.

Quick Take:

Beijing Off-Road has finally put lidar on a rugged off-roader, and the intelligentization leg has finally been filled in. With a body-on-frame chassis plus range-extended power, the off-road foundation is there, and urban fuel consumption can also be kept down—the direction is not wrong. However, a vehicle length of 5040mm paired with a wheelbase of 2820mm means the wheelbase-to-length ratio is not particularly large. The side profile bears a considerable resemblance to the BJ60; the platform-based approach is understandable, but as the first luxury off-roader, consumers may expect more than this. The interior has not yet been revealed, and there is no word on pricing either, so we'll have to wait and see.
